3 Ways to Save Money on Your Wedding Flowers

1) Fake it!

If you want to cut down the cost on flowers for your wedding, one great option is to use silk flowers in place of real ones for some or all of your flowers. Silk flowers are much cheaper than real flowers, and they definitely will not wilt or die before the wedding. And many silk flowers look so real, the guests probably would not even notice!

2) Stay local.

By using flowers that are common (and by common we mean using flowers that are found locally, as opposed to flowers that have to be shipped from across the world), a you can save money on your flowers. In addition, flowers that are in season at the time of the wedding, such as lilacs and tulips in springtime, are also much more affordable. Exotic and out-of-season flowers while beautiful, can be extremely expensive to order, and also generally tend to require special care (heat, light and temperature factors to name a few) which may further more increase their cost.

3) Keep it simple.

More costs can be saved on flowers if the arrangements are made smaller and simpler. For example, you could carry a small bouquet or a handful of flowers. A small cluster of flowers tied with pretty ribbon or elegant silk can have the same impact as a large bouquet, but for a fraction of the price. Another option is for you and your bridesmaids to each carry a single large flower. This is very pretty, and very easy on the budget.
